PREVIEWS

Tuesday, July 1st - Jimmy Dean, the publisher of HARBOR STYLE magazine, will talk about "Shifting Sands:  The Market Changes in Southwest Florida since The Great Recession." Dean is the former publisher of SARASOTA Magazine and GULFSHORE LIFE Magazine in Naples and has lived in and helped chronicle this area of the Gulf coast for 35 years. Born and raised in North Carolina, he began coming to Florida regularly as a child, eventually relocating here at age 27. He and his wife, Paige, have four children, now ages 12 through 16. (If you did the math, you're correct that there are twins involved.) When an attempt at retirement failed in 2006 (Paige couldn't handle FIVE children around the house), Jimmy, in partnership with the SUN newspaper group, purchased HARBOR STYLE Magazine. HARBOR STYLE serves the Greater Charlotte Harbor area.

Tuesday, July 15th - Dave Walrath, president of the Jazz Club of Sarasota, will bring us up to date on the Jazz Club's performance schedule, community involvement, and several other aspects of this somewhat hidden gem of the Sarasota cultural scene. He has a long and varied career in marketing and sales, serving as founder, president, and CEO of G TWO Marketing in San Carlos, California, as well as Director of Marketing & Sales at EW Communications in Palo Alto, California. His earlier career included work in New York City, Philadelphia, and San Francisco, with extensive international travel as well. Walrath attended the USC School of Public Administration and earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration with minors in Economics and English from the University of Tampa.
