Speaker Luncheon at Marina Jack, Sarasota Join us for the Ivy League Club's upcoming September 24th luncheon at Marina Jack with Neil Brown, President of the Poynter Institute, who will lead us in a discussion on the global state of journalism, the fight against misinformation, and the groundbreaking work of the Poynter Institute - a global nonprofit focused on improving the relevance, ethical practice, and value of journalism through their teaching, publishing, convening, fact-checking, and media literacy enterprises. Poynter champions freedom of expression, civil dialogue, and compelling journalism that helps citizens participate in healthy democracies. The Institute is dedicated to developing journalism's leaders and improving the reliability of journalism and transparency between newsmakers and news consumers, thereby creating a crossroads where communities come together to use journalism to confront society’s complex problems. The luncheon event will be held on Tuesday, Sept. 24th, 2024 from 12-1pm. Attire is business casual, and the venue is Marina Jack, located on the Bay in downtown Sarasota (2 Marina Plaza, Sarasota, FL 34236). The cost is $35 / person. Thursday, September 26th, 2024 @5-7pm ILC Professionals Networking Group Happy Hour at 99 Bottles in Sarasota Join the Ivy League Professionals Networking Group of Sarasota for our August Happy Hour. This month's event location is 99 Bottles in downtown Sarasota. The Happy Hour will be on Thursday, September 26th, starting at 5pm. It officially ends at 7pm, but guests usually stay longer.
