Before the opera, we will have our optional open-menu dinner in a private room at the Bijou Café at 5:00 p.m. The Bijou requests that orders be placed for dinner by 5:20 p.m. Someone from the Sarasota Opera will discuss the opera and the cast during the dinner. You can make reservations for the dinner at the same time as you order the tickets. If you make a reservation and later need to cancel, please let Jack Wright know at [email protected] at least three days before the event. You can read a synopsis of the opera on the club’s website.
About the Opera: Among lavish parties and influential friends, true love finds Violetta, a famed Parisian courtesan. As she leaves the “city of lights” for a house in the country with her beloved Alfredo, an infamous past still haunts her. And now she will give up her dream of love to protect the man she adores with terrible consequences. Giuseppe Verdi’s awe-inspiring music combined to a heart-breaking libretto has made La traviata one of the repertoire cornerstones of opera companies around the world.
