Susan Wilburn from Southeastern Guide Dogs will present her admirable and courageous story. She grew up as a young girl playing soccer and softball. However, by age 27, a genetic condition had rendered her legally blind. She then started as an intern at Southeastern Guide Dogs. Several years later she had worked her way up and attained a lead position in the
kennels where she brought the canines from puppies to actual guide dogs. Susan will present an account, with pictures, of her now rewarding life as a top official with SGD and will also greet us with her guide dog who is an inseparable part of her daily life.

Dr. Bob McClure
President, The James Madison Institute Dr. Bob McClure, president of The James Madison Institute, will discuss the Institute’s observations on what is happening in Florida. The Institute is a Florida-based research and educational organization whose mission is to keep the citizens of Florida aware of happenings in our state capital and to help shape our state’s future through the advancement of free market ideas on public policy issues. Since its inception in 1987, the Institute has remained nonprofit and nonpartisan. It takes no positions on specific bills. For example, eight straight storm-free years have given us an opportunity to address what must be done regarding our Florida Hurricane Catastrophic Fund while such action is still possible. McClure will also explain the Florida administration’s resistance to implementing the Common Core State Standards program which establishes new targets for mathematics and English language arts. McClure will be addressing decisions Florida voters will be making soon that will set our state's course in the decades ahead.
